Pompeii

Client: Jar / Millk for the Open University

The project is part of OU Connect where users “explore” sites of importance at Pompeii that represent important archaeological discoveries.

The experience is an interactive map that uses dynamic video to show the points of interest that users can explore free-form.

With guidance from academics we built a number of 3D scenes and tracked & composited them into present day footage, giving the viewer a realistic glimpse into the past.

An opening sequence leads viewers into the excavation map, the starting point for user navigation.

These elements were then passed on to Millk for voice over and sound effects and added to the interactive platform.
